Front‑End Technical Lead
Work in Tech, Product or Data at Sky by leading software development that powers Sky’s TV platforms and major partnerships such as Disney+ and HBO.
Responsibilities
- Act as the technical lead for a cross‑functional team in an agile environment.
- Provide leadership in the design and development of software components.
- Write high‑quality code and dive deeply into components and features across the technology stacks.
- Drive significant technology initiatives from inception to deployment.
- Shape the technical direction and improve tools and processes across the department.
- Champion quality assurance, performance, reliability and scalability best practices.
- Coach and mentor engineers from Associate to Senior level.
- Collaborate with Design, Solution Architects, Principal Engineers and other Tech Leads to understand forthcoming work and provide high‑level guidance and estimates.
Required Qualifications
- Practical experience with GraphQL and TypeScript.
- Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing).
- Experience with CI pipelines (e.g. Jenkins or similar tools).
- Hands‑on experience with unit testing (e.g. Jest, React Testing Library).
- Proven ability to lead engineering teams/squads in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Strong problem‑solving, analytical and communication skills.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Experience with Tailwind CSS.
- Ability to work hands‑on across incidents, defects, spikes, prototypes and proof‑of‑concepts.
- Experience leading small to medium‑sized squads if not already demonstrated at scale.
- Experience coaching and mentoring engineers.
- Exposure to cross‑functional collaboration (architecture, DevOps, data, product, delivery teams).
