FUNCTION
The Engineering Intern is assigned a variety of projects to be completed in a responsive and timely manner from conception to completion. The Engineering Intern works closely with production to address both job and process specific issues. Emphasis is on problem solving and solution implementation. The Engineering Intern interfaces with internal personnel in the plant and office, and some external suppliers, contractors, etc. as needed
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIEs
ENGINEERING
1. Evaluate existing procedures and production methods for opportunities to improve.
2. Participate in Continuous Improvement projects.
3. Perform Time Studies to support the Item Creation standards.
4. Assist with and/or take lead of new or upgraded Process / Equipment Implementation projects.
5. Process mapping, development, improvement and documentation.
6. Development of procedures, forms, checklists, and schedules required to support these activities.
7. Investigate new technologies, equipment, supplies to help improve the operation.
8. Tooling assessments and review (tool life, design and manufacture)
9. R & D projects around enhancing capability, or analysing and improving process capability.
10. Sustainability projects to improve the companies carbon footprint.
11. Additional activities may be assigned based on current requirements and Intern development.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
22. Ensure all safety rules and standards are adhered to
23. Ensure correct Personal Protective Equipment is worn at all times when required in line with company procedures
24. Commitment and ongoing support to the company’s LEAN programme
25. Comply with the Company’s Attendance Management policy
26. Provide holiday/absence cover for other roles/tasks as and when required
27. Fulfil any other duties as required for your job role
28. Flexibility to travel as and when required
29. Hold a full clean driving licence
Qualifications and Education Requirements
30. Currently enrolled in Engineering or Technical discipline at an accredited university/college
31. Efficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
32. Familiar with AutoCAD and 3D CAD modelling
33. Adept at working in a manufacturing environment
34. Wonderlic 25+, Bennett Mechanical 90%+
35. Ability to read and understand technical drawings
