A client within the Public Sector, based in Tyne and Wear, is currently recruiting for a Building Surveyor to join their Responsive Repairs Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority environment.
The Role
Key purpose of the role:
To deliver a comprehensive building surveying service within the Responsive Repairs Team, ensuring property defects are accurately identified, repair works are specified and delivered in line with R&M policy, and customers are kept fully informed throughout the repairs process.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Carrying out all aspects of building surveying across the housing stock
• Undertaking daily property inspections and identifying defects and remedial works
• Producing detailed work packages and repair specifications
• Arranging and overseeing repair works in line with the organisation’s Repairs & Maintenance policy
• Liaising with contractors, internal teams, and residents to ensure works are completed efficiently
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
• A relevant qualification such as HNC/HND or Degree in Building Surveying or Construction
• Membership (or working towards membership) of a relevant professional body (e.g. RICS or CIOB)
• Proven experience working within a local authority or public sector housing environment
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Strong knowledge of responsive repairs and maintenance processes
• Ability to diagnose building defects and specify appropriate remedial works
• Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and, as such, are offering £25 per hour Umbrella LTD (Inside IR35) (approx. £19 per hour PAYE).
