Role Overview
Our dedicated team provide a wealth of experience throughout all sectors, giving expert advice to all clients through our thorough knowledge of the MEP market, from material cost changes through to understanding contractor workloads within the sector. Allowing the team to give detailed cost advice. With our team spread across different regions of the UK we can provide a unique service offering of key personnel with the MEP expertise to cater for our clients’ needs regardless of sector, location and/or project challenges.
We are currently recruiting a Cost Manager or Senior Cost Manager (Mechanical and Electrical) to join our team in Birmingham. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced candidate to join and strengthen our Cost Management offering. The role will involve providing all M&E Cost Management services across a variety of ever changing, high profile, high value and complex projects within sectors such as Major Projects, Aviation, Hotels & Leisure, Retail, Residential and Sports & Entertainment and Industrial & Logistics.
M&E Cost Management is a buoyant specialism for RLB and our numerous clients, and one that is experiencing massive growth. We are therefore looking for future leaders to carry the sector forward, which poses a brilliant opportunity for personal development and progression within the business. You will be joining an established and supportive team of cost management professionals in Birmingham, with extensive and diverse experience.
Role Responsibilities
* Leading M&E packages and projects from a cost management / quantity surveying perspective.
* The candidate will be an integral part of a team that is accountable for the commercial and contractual performance of a project.
* To carry out assigned duties efficiently and in accordance with processes and procedures.
* Building and maintaining client relationships.
* To support business objectives of delivering value for money in all circumstances.
* Pre and Post contract Quantity Surveying duties.
* Preparing and issuing tender documents.
* Cost Planning including preparing cost budgets and appraisals, and elemental cost plans.
* Identifying commercial opportunities.
Candidate Profile
Qualifications
* Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or similar technical discipline.
* Preferably Chartered via RICS or another relevant professional body, or studying toward.
Experience
* Strong technical delivery experience.
* Strong M&E Cost Management experience.
* Client facing, ensuring a high standard of technical delivery.
* Previously employed by a consultancy, specialist M&E firm / contractor.
* Stakeholder management with a clear focus on developing client accounts.
* A track record of working with teams and managing projects by prioritising workloads and delivering deadlines.
