Job Description

Role: Driver

Department: Vehicle Fleet Management

Location: Eastwood, Rotherham & Churchill Way, Sheffield

Salary: £25,242 - £27,204

Hours: 37

Contract Type: Permanent & Temporary for 12 months

In this role you will provide a service delivering and collecting vehicles, mail, property, exhibits, furniture and personnel around the force area.

You must have a full clean UK driving licence to apply for the role, PSV/HGV desirable but not essential.

Key Responsibilities

You are expected to work as part of a team but also to work alone and forward plan your routes.
The Post Holder should have knowledge of Microsoft office and basic computer skills.

Essential to pass the Force Internal Driving Test to take up the role and undertake additional training and tests if required to enhance for additional vehicle categories.
Assist in the receipt of oil and fuel deliveries. Re-charge batteries. Clean and maintain garage and parking areas (when trained).
Drivers will work shifts, as and when required, on a rota basis.
Collect and deliver files, tapes and any other SYP property.
Responsible for the management of all travel arrangements (including route planning and timings, location maps, parking facilities)
Responsible for the security of the vehicle and equipment at all times whilst engaged on driving duties.
Clean & maintain vehicles, report defects, liaise with colleagues across the force to provide the high standard of service delivery to the Force.

Skills And Experience

Must a hold a full clean UK Driving Licence.
Must be computer literate and knowledge of Microsoft systems.
Previous experience is a similar role.
Ability to pass an SYP Driving Assessment.
Ability to plan routes around the Force area and beyond.

Eligibility

Applicants must meet the minimum requirement checkable history criteria, which must be taken into account for individuals applying to work with South Yorkshire Police in any capacity. A minimum checkable history of 3 years is required for this role and successfully undergoing recruitment vetting procedure is a pre-requisite of employment with South Yorkshire Police.

This role has been evaluated as a fixed role.

Fixed: This is a traditional arrangement, applicable when the work is mostly required to be undertaken at a fixed single place of work (on police premises) for most of the time. The work can only or is more effectively delivered from a police premises or other agreed organisational/partner premises.
