Payroll & HR Assistant
London
40 hours (Mon–Fri)
£31,000 per annum

Off to Work is looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Payroll & HR Assistant to join our London-based team. Reporting into both the Payroll and People teams, this role is ideal for someone who enjoys working across payroll operations and the full employee lifecycle in a fast-paced environment.
You’ll play a key role in ensuring payroll is processed accurately and on time, while also providing high-quality HR administrative support and maintaining excellent employee records.

What you’ll be doing Payroll Support
1. Assisting with payroll processing, including the collection and accurate input of hours, expenses, and pension contributions
2. Creating new starters and maintaining payroll records
3. Responding to payroll queries via email and phone in a timely and professional manner
4. Chasing and resolving outstanding timesheets with clients
5. Supporting the smooth and accurate close of payroll each cycle
HR & People Administration
6. Providing administrative support across the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, probation, and performance documentation
7. Maintaining accurate employee records, contracts, and personnel files, ensuring the HR system is always up to date
8. Supporting recruitment activities and attending meetings as required
9. Producing HR reports, metrics, and audit documentation
10. Assisting with policy updates, process improvements, and wider HR initiatives
What we’re looking for
11. Excellent communication skills, with fluent spoken English and outstanding written English
12. CIPD qualification (or currently working towards), with at least 2 years’ experience in a similar role
13. A basic understanding of UK employment law
14. Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and HR/payroll systems
15. Highly organised, with the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively
16. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
17. A proactive, flexible approach and the ability to work well as part of a team
18. Absolute discretion when handling confidential and sensitive information
