Financial Accountant (25841SDD) Buckinghamshire, England
Butler Rose is partnering with one of our clients in Milton Keynes to recruit a qualified Financial Accountant to join their team. This is a permanent role paying a salary between £45,294 – £55,264 per annum, dependent on experience.
Hybrid working of 3 days in the office and 2 from home.
The Role
Reporting to the Lead Financial Accountant, the successful candidate will play a key role in delivering accurate and timely financial reporting, maintaining a strong financial control environment, and ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
The role will involve close collaboration across finance and wider operational teams, while also supporting relationships with external auditors, banks, and professional advisers.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare external financial reports and statutory accounts to a high standard.
* Produce annual financial statements for subsidiaries and consolidated group reporting.
* Support quarterly banking covenant reporting and treasury compliance activities.
* Ensure financial regulatory compliance across the organisation and subsidiaries.
* Review and approve journals prior to upload into finance systems.
* Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and prepayments.
* Produce weekly and monthly cash flow forecasts.
* Liaise with internal and external auditors to support audit deliverables and timetables.
* Support VAT, statutory reporting, and regulatory submissions where required.
* Oversee financial matters relating to associated entities and supervise relevant finance support staff.
* Contribute to finance system improvements, controls, and process efficiencies.
* Assist with technical accounting research and reporting for committees and senior stakeholders.
* Provide coaching, mentoring, and technical support to junior finance team members.
* Support cross-functional collaboration and contribute to wider finance team deliverables as required.
About You
The ideal candidate will be a technically strong and proactive qualified accountant with excellent analytical and communication skills.
Essential Requirements
* Degree educated with a recognised professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
* Minimum of 4 years’ post-qualified experience.
* Strong experience preparing statutory financial statements.
* Excellent understanding of financial controls, compliance, and accounting standards.
* Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong proficiency with financial systems.
* Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* Proven ability to work collaboratively across teams and build effective stakeholder relationships.
Desirable
* Previous experience within higher education, not-for-profit, or complex group structures.
* Experience working with ERP systems.
* Exposure to finance system implementation or process improvement projects.
