Emergency Medicine: Senior Advanced Clinical Practitioner
We have an exciting development opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced professional who would like to extend their scope of practice to an advanced level.
Where required, the post holder will be expected to undertake a four-year training programme under Annex 21 (Band 8a) working towards achieving a level 7 qualification in advanced practice and local consultant sign-off as an EM:ACP.
Annex 21 remuneration applies (60% of the top of Band 8a pay for Year 1, 65% for Year 2, 70% for Year 3, 75% for Year 4).

Main duties of the job
* The post holder will work as part of the clinical team in the ED and will be committed to a pathway of training and education aligned with registration with RCEM as an EM-ACP.
* Within the ED, there is substantial exposure to a wide range of EM cases, from seriously ill or injured adults and children to minor injuries, offering ample opportunities to develop EM procedural skills.
* Weekly departmental training supports knowledge and skill acquisition. You will also be allocated a consultant clinical supervisor and a qualified ACP mentor to support your transition into the department.
* Your role will have an 80/20 split with clinical time and protected SPA time to support your growth across all 4 pillars of advanced practice.

Clinical Practice
* Provide evidence-based care supporting effective and efficient resource use.
* Conduct advanced assessments through detailed history taking, physiological examinations, and diagnostic testing.
* Request further investigations such as ECGs, blood tests, and imaging as needed.
* Utilize a range of expanded clinical skills, e.g., intravenous injections, suturing, blood gas analysis.
Education
* Undertake role-specific training programs.
* Evaluate and seek feedback on own practice.
* Act as a resource for students, junior staff, and the multidisciplinary team.
* Provide specialist training for other professionals.
Leadership and Management
* Develop leadership, motivation, and teaching skills, acting as a role model.
* Advance practice and staff development through supervision and empowerment.
* Participate in teaching and staff development activities.
* Support ED management with recruitment and professional development.
Research and Audit
Participate in clinical research and data collection to inform practice and policy.
Undertake audits and surveys, including departmental safety and quality improvement projects, and lead research initiatives when appropriate.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Current professional registration
* Resuscitation Council UK ALS
* Post-registration CPD evidence
* Non-medical prescribing registration
* Paediatric Life Support (EPLS/APLS)
* Teaching & assessing qualification
* Working towards RCEM ACP curriculum
* Level 7 Education qualification
Experience
* Significant post-registration experience in Emergency or Unscheduled Care
* Experience as an autonomous Emergency Care Practitioner
* Quality improvement and audit experience
* Experience in teaching and training
* Leadership experience

Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board
Salary: £54,550 to £61,412 per year, Band 8a depending on experience. Annex 21 applies.
