Independent School in Northampton is recruiting a caring and creative Reception Teacher to begin in January 2026. This full-time Reception Teacher role is based in a strong Early Years team where the Reception Teacher will prepare resources before January 2026, attend induction in January 2026, and teach from January 2026 as the Reception Teacher. A day in the life of the Reception Teacher
Morning: the Reception Teacher leads welcome routines, systematic phonics, shared reading and scaffolded adult-led activities to develop early literacy and number sense. Midday: the Reception Teacher coordinates safe outdoor play and supports social development. Afternoon: the Reception Teacher records observations, plans next steps and liaises with families as the Reception Teacher. Across the week the Reception Teacher runs focused interventions and contributes to whole-school assemblies and enrichment, all aligned to the January 2026 start.
Reception Teacher Responsibilities
The Reception Teacher will lead play-based continuous provision, deliver systematic phonics and support early number work as the Reception Teacher. The Reception Teacher will observe and assess learning, communicate with families and design indoor and outdoor environments as the Reception Teacher. The Reception Teacher will plan transition into Year 1 and contribute to whole-school events as the Reception Teacher. The Reception Teacher will also lead parent engagement sessions and share effective practice at staff briefings to support whole-school improvement.
Reception Teacher Requirements
We seek a Reception Teacher with QTS/EYTS or equivalent, strong EYFS practice and excellent communication skills. The Reception Teacher should be available for pre-term planning prior to January 2026, induction in January 2026, and a Full-Time start from January 2026.
