Overview
Occupational Therapist - Band 5, Mayfield Unit, Thurrock Community Hospital. We provide rehabilitation to older people living in the local community with the aim of supporting them to return to their own homes as independent as possible. The unit consists of 24 beds.
Responsibilities
* Provide high standard Occupational Therapy care on the ward and support patients to progress towards discharge.
* Develop understanding and application of the OT process and assessment/treatment programmes for activities of daily living.
* Assess and consider equipment needs, and complete assessments and treatment plans.
* Carry out access and home visits to facilitate discharge (own transport is essential).
* Develop understanding of dementia and the OT role with this client group, including cognitive screening assessments and therapeutic interventions.
* Work autonomously and prioritise effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Qualifications and Skills
* Experience as a Band 5 Occupational Therapist, preferably with older adults.
* Excellent communication skills, time management, prioritisation, and problem-solving abilities.
* Access to own vehicle for home visits and community work.

Induction and Probation
NELFT places importance on induction for new starters. Induction is held on the first Monday of every month, lasting up to two weeks and includes mandatory training, systems training and equipment allocation. Induction sessions may include meetings with the executive team and senior managers and various drop-in engagements. Induction is at the Trust head office in Rainham, Essex. This post is subject to a probationary period.
