Machine Tool Applications Engineer – Turning Specialist Location: Worcester (with regular UK travel) Salary: £36,000 – £42,000 (depending on experience) A leading machine tool manufacturer in Worcester is looking for a technically strong Applications Engineer with a solid background in turning. This role is ideal for a hands-on machinist who is currently programming and setting machines in a fast-paced subcontract environment and looking to step into a more customer-facing, technical support position. The Role: You’ll work closely with sales, service, and engineering teams to deliver pre- and post-sales support — including technical demonstrations, customer training, and process optimisation. Key Responsibilities: Support customers and internal teams with advanced CNC applications, particularly turning Plan and deliver live cutting trials, tailored demonstrations, and technical presentations Run customer training sessions and support exhibitions/events in the UK and overseas Demonstrate control systems and CAM software in detail Respond to technical queries and provide on-site support when needed Collaborate with sales engineers to provide smooth technical handovers Stay current with developments in machining techniques, tooling, and in-process measurement What We’re Looking For: Essential: Currently working in a busy subcontract machining environment Recent hands-on experience setting and programming CNC lathes and/or mill-turn machines Strong knowledge of modern controls and CAM software Confident communicator with the ability to liaise with customers and internal teams Completed a Level 3 Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent Desirable: HNC/HND in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering What’s on Offer: £36,000 – £42,000 salary (depending on experience) 25 days holiday bank holidays 8% employer pension contribution Private medical cover, life assurance (4x salary), and sick pay scheme Paid overtime (enhanced weekday, weekend, and Sunday rates) Free parking, uniform, subsidised canteen Standard hours: Monday to Friday, 08:15–16:30 If you're working on the shop floor right now, programming and setting mill-turn or turning machines daily — and you're ready for a new challenge in a customer-facing applications role — we’d like to hear from you.
