Advocate

What does the job involve?
1. Travel to locations such as hospitals and care homes around Sutton/Croydon/Surrey OR Bexley/Bromley.
2. Supporting people to speak up, helping them to understand information, and ensure their wishes, feelings, beliefs, needs and values are considered.
3. Check and challenge Local Authorities and/or professionals as appropriate to ensure they are acting in the best interest of the client.
4. Compassionate communication – You’ll engage with people from all walks of life from care home residents to staff to social services, ensuring that the client’s voice is heard.
5. Promote empowerment.
6. Raise safeguarding concerns.
7. Work in accordance with relevant legislation such as Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health Act, Care Act, DoLS and Human Rights Act.
8. Monitoring and reporting – Following a checklist, and you will write and submit detailed reports to the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) team.
What our client is looking for:
9. IAQ qualified (including any specialist unit) or be willing to study for and obtain within 12 months of commencing employment.
10. Previous experience of working as an advocate/working with a diverse range of vulnerable people.
11. Kindness, compassion, good communication skills, and the ability to connect with others.
12. Ability to communicate clearly in writing, verbally and nonverbally, using a range of communication tools and methods.
13. IT skills – A working knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, databases and other relevant technology.
14. Strong organisational skills.
15. A valid driver’s license and car as this role involves travel to clients.

Hours and Location:
25. Our client is looking for people who can work 37 hours per week (Monday – Friday)
26. The candidate will need to work flexibly in the specified locations as required, based from their Sutton/Croydon office, mainly covering those areas, but not limited to that area.
