What to Expect
As Customer Support Engineer - Motorsport, you will play a pivotal role in providing market-leading motorsport engineering services to our global customer base. This is a key role in managing and enhancing the relationship between McLaren Motorsport and our customer race teams.
Reporting and Team Structure
* Reporting to the Senior Customer Support Engineer – Motorsport, working as part of a team of customer support engineers who serve as the first point of contact for customer race programs.
* Support the GT3/GT4 project engineering and development teams in executing and evaluating pre- and post-event simulation, data analysis, and reporting.
What You'll Do
* Data processing and race forecasting
* Handling general data and electronic systems matters, documentation, and technical updates for customers
* Supporting events with remote or track-side data analysis, systems-wide commissioning, ECU programming, and BOP implementation
* Assisting customer teams with vehicle/systems engineering, technical, and operational procedures during events
* Collaborating with internal development and engineering teams to provide feedback on technical issues
* Documenting engineering reports from live events and sharing information with support and engineering departments
* Providing remote diagnostic and advisory sessions from workshops for customer teams
* Offering technical support to McLaren motorsport customers, which may involve travel within and outside the UK, with extensive global travel expected (16–22 events annually).
What You'll Bring
* BSc, BEng, MEng, MSc in Engineering or equivalent
* Experience in the motorsport industry, either within a race team or in a customer support role
* High-level experience in data analysis, systems commissioning for GT3/GT4 platforms
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including networking, Excel, and VBA
* Programming skills in Matlab and Simulink
* Skills in CATIA 2D/3D
* Ability to remain calm under pressure
* Knowledge of motorsport electrical diagnostic systems and hardware (preferred)
* Full UK driving license
* Strong team player attributes, professional presentation, adaptability, quick thinking, decisiveness, and strong initiative
* Excellent planning, attention to detail, and methodical approach
* Effective interpersonal and communication skills, especially verbal and written
* Willingness to travel abroad as needed
