<div><p>My client is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Assistant to join a growing team in Middlesbrough. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional with strong bookkeeping and ledger management skills to play a key role in supporting the day-to-day finance function.</p><p>The successful candidate will have proven experience using Xero, a solid understanding of CIS and Reverse VAT, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy.</p><p>Location: Middlesbrough (Office Based) | Hours: Monday to Friday, flexible full time hours | Salary: 27,000 - 30,000 per annum (depending on experience)</p><h3>Key Responsibilities</h3><b>Purchase Ledger</b><ul><li>Process supplier invoices accurately using Xero.</li><li>Match invoices to purchase orders and delivery notes.</li><li>Raise and manage purchase orders.</li><li>Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.</li><li>Prepare and process supplier payment runs.</li></ul><b>Sales Ledger</b><ul><li>Raise and manage customer invoices, including job-based invoicing via Joblogic.</li><li>Maintain accurate records of sales transactions within Xero.</li><li>Allocate customer payments and reconcile customer accounts.</li></ul><b>Credit Control</b><ul><li>Monitor aged debt and proactively chase outstanding payments.</li><li>Build positive relationships with customers to encourage timely payment.</li><li>Resolve invoice queries promptly to minimise payment delays.
<b>Book keeping</b><ul><li>Maintain accurate financial records in line with company procedures.</li><li>Perform regular bank reconciliations.</li><li>Assist with month-end processes and financial reporting.</li></ul><b>Compliance & Specialist Knowledge</b><ul><li>Apply and maintain compliance with the Construction Industry Scheme (CIS).</li><li>Correctly process transactions involving Reverse VAT.</li><li>Ensure accurate VAT treatment across all transactions.</li></ul><h3>About You</h3><b>Essential Skills & Experience</b><ul><li>Proven experience using Xero accounting software.</li><li>Strong experience in purchase ledger, including purchase order management.</li><li>Sales ledger and invoicing.</li><li>Bookkeeping.</li><li>Credit control.</li><li>Experience using Joblogic or a similar job management system.</li><li>Sound understanding of Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) and Reverse VAT.</li><li>Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.</li><li>Strong organisational and time management skills.</li><li>Effective written and verbal communication skills.</li></ul><h3>Qualifications</h3><ul><li>AAT Level 3 (or equivalent) - essential.</li></ul></li></ul></div>
