Role summary: Support complex engineering programmes in the UK and internationally through advanced modelling, simulation, and analytical techniques. This role focuses on applying mathematical, physical, chemical, or process-based modelling approaches to analyse, optimise, and support complex systems and operations across highly regulated industries. What you will be doing: Develop and apply simulation and modelling approaches to support engineering, operational, and strategic decision-making. Build dynamic, process, system, or data-driven models to analyse complex physical, chemical, or industrial systems. Conduct modelling studies, sensitivity analyses, optimisation, and scenario evaluations to provide technical insight and recommendations. Work collaboratively with clients and multidisciplinary teams to translate technical challenges into robust modelling frameworks. Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation communicating modelling methodologies, assumptions, and outcomes. Use modelling, simulation, and analytical tools such as gPROMS, MATLAB/Simulink, Python, Aspen Plus/HYSYS, AnyLogic, Simul8, or similar platforms. Contribute to technical innovation, digital engineering, and simulation capability development within highly regulated environments. Formal qualifications or training: Degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Computational Science, or a related technical discipline. Experience in simulation, modelling, systems analysis, or computational engineering within an industrial, scientific, or consultancy environment. Experience using modelling and simulation tools such as gPROMS, MATLAB/Simulink, Aspen platforms, Python, or equivalent software. Programming or scripting experience (e.g. Python, MATLAB, Java, C++, or similar) is beneficial. Experience working in regulated or technically complex industries such as nuclear, energy, chemical processing, pharmaceuticals, aerospace, manufacturing, or defence is desirable.
