Management Accountant
Bolton - up to £55,000 DOE
Hybrid following training (2 days a week in the office)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Management Accountant to join a well-established organisation based in Bolton, offering a competitive salary of £45,000 - £55,000. This role is perfect for somebody wanting to make a real difference in a dynamic SME environment.
You will play a pivotal part in leading the month-end close process, supporting the preparation of timely and accurate financial reports, and collaborating with both internal teams and external stakeholders. What you'll do:
* Take ownership of producing monthly management accounts by posting key journals, conducting variance analysis, and delivering insightful commentary to inform business performance.
* Lead the month-end close process with precision, ensuring all deadlines are met while maintaining accuracy in financial reporting.
* Develop and maintain robust financial models used throughout month-end activities as well as during budgeting and forecasting cycles.
* Manage all balance sheet reconciliations by understanding key movements and variances against budget or forecast figures.
* Liaise effectively with external stakeholders such as investors, auditors, and HMRC to ensure compliance and transparency in all financial matters.
* Drive the budgeting and forecasting processes by collaborating closely with department heads to translate business performance into meaningful financial outcomes.
* Take full responsibility for cashflow forecasting, providing detailed variance analysis against budgets or forecasts while adapting projections based on actual results.
* Support management in financial planning by acting as a trusted business partner to various departments across the organisation.
What you bring:
* Hold a recognised accountancy qualification (ACCA/ACA/CIMA) or possess equivalent experience (QBE), demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of management accounting principles.
* Have at least three years' experience working within a management accounts function where you have taken responsibility for month-end processes.
* Demonstrate advanced Excel skills alongside proficiency in reporting software; experience with Power BI would be advantageous but is not essential.
* Showcase a solid understanding of UK GAAP and IFRS accounting standards relevant to the preparation of statutory accounts.
