Our HR Advisors provide a professional advisory service to a range of stakeholders across of our organisation to enable effective day to day people management. You will provide timely, accurate advice and guidance to line managers regarding a range of HR case work including absence, performance, and probation. This is a varied role, in a fast-paced, forward-thinking environment in an organisation which values its people. You will be responsible for taking policies, legislation, and best practice into consideration when providing advice to ensure compliance and facilitate decision making. In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Include Support and guide managers and staff in relation to Police Regulations and Police Staff conditions of service, including the resolution of a range of employment issues. Input of data onto HR systems and databases, ensuring that this is accurate and producing reports as required. Provide support to HR colleagues and work across the HR structure as required. Supporting the implementation of changes in HR policies and procedures. Champion our organisational values and principles of our people strategy, incorporating them into your approach to case work and projects. Additional Information We have the following opportunities: 1 x temporary HR Advisor to cover maternity leave, we anticipate the contract will last for up to 12 months. 1 x temporary HR Advisor to cover a temporary promotion, the contract will end on 30th November 2026. Each position works 37 hours per week, over 5 days; Monday to Friday. Interviews are expected to take place in person on 3rd and 4th December 2025. You’ll benefit from blended (hybrid) working across home and the office (Police HQ, Portishead). You will be required to travel to alternative locations across Avon and Somerset when required, travel expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with force policy. To be eligible to apply for this role you must have a 3 year ‘checkable history’ in the UK – ideally this means that you would have been resident in the UK for the last 3 years.
