Building Services Engineer
Department: Corporate Services and Facilities
Salary: £43,151 - £46,387 plus Recruitment and Retention Allowance of £2,500 per annum
This is a full-time position for 37 hours per week, open to flexible, compressed, and part-time working patterns with a minimum coverage of 30 hours, Monday to Friday. You will be part of an on-call rota, typically for a week every six weeks, for which you will receive an allowance.
Role Overview: You will work on an estate with advanced technical facilities, supporting security and maintenance across a diverse campus with manufacturing workshops, laboratories, server rooms, and offices. The estate includes new constructions and older buildings, requiring varied infrastructure management.
You will manage projects from system replacements to statutory compliance, using your analytical skills to diagnose and resolve building system issues. The role involves reactive repairs and proactive upgrades, within a supportive team that encourages professional development, including external and internal training courses.
Requirements:
* Professional qualification in building services or relevant experience
* Understanding of HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems
* Knowledge of building regulations, safety standards, and sustainable technologies
* Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Desirable but not essential:
* Excellent communication skills
* Experience with ISO standards (e.g., ISO 50001, ISO 14001)
* Familiarity with AutoCAD software
Personal Skills: Strong project management, relationship-building, adaptability, attention to detail, effective communication, and team collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
* Ensure site safety and compliance
* Lead project management for equipment upgrades and replacements
* Respond to system failures and perform fault diagnosis
* Interrogate Building Management Systems for faults and improvements
* Handle user requests for repairs and infrastructure enhancements
