Support Worker - Deaf Community Services
We have fantastic new opportunities to join us and support our deaf or hearing impaired service users in Blackburn.
We are looking for confident Care & Support Workers with the passion to deliver outstanding care and empower d/Deaf or hearing impaired service users to access the same recovery opportunities as their hearing peers.
You will work full time (42 hours per week) on a mixed shift pattern of 3/4 12-hour shifts per week, supporting our d/Deaf or hearing impaired (profound, severe, partial, or hard of hearing) service users with mental health needs in our new Deaf community step-down setting in Blackburn.
Note: This role requires a minimum of BSL Signature Level 2 as it is a Deaf service. Interviews begin from May 16th.
About the service:
Vincent Court is a five-bed community rehabilitation (level 1) service for deaf men progressing through the hospital pathway at Cygnet Bury Dunes (Bridgehampton Ward). We also accept referrals from other high-support inpatient rehabilitation (level 2) services, low secure services, and directly from the community.
We offer a safe, comfortable, and homely setting that enables individuals to focus on their recovery and transition back into a more independent lifestyle, continuing to access the same multidisciplinary team (MDT) at Cygnet Bury Dunes.
The service is scheduled to open in late June 2025.
About you:
* You may be d/Deaf yourself.
* Experience working or living with Deaf people.
* You can sign in BSL.
* Qualified in Signature BSL to at least Level 2.
* You are a strong worker and team player.
* You want to support d/Deaf people.
* You have an interest in helping d/Deaf people with mental health issues.
Your day-to-day:
* Offer enhanced care with a flexible learning approach.
* Provide guidance & encouragement through physical & emotional support.
* Learn about individuals' needs and provide appropriate help.
* Assist with medical & welfare needs and report as required.
* Safeguard and maintain a safe, clean environment.
