Role Overview:
As a Transport Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing our drivers and ensuring that all daily operations run as efficiently as possible. You will need to anticipate and resolve potential issues before they escalate, respond quickly to challenges as they arise, and re-plan workloads to minimise disruption. This role requires a proactive approach, excellent organisational skills, and strong communication to keep both drivers and customers informed.
Key Responsibilities:
* Monitor drivers and vehicle movements throughout the day.
* Pre-empt potential delays or operational issues and take action to prevent them.
* React promptly to unforeseen problems and re-plan schedules as required.
* Liaise with drivers to provide guidance, support, and clear instructions.
* Communicate effectively with the operations team and customers to keep them updated.
* Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and transport regulations.
* Contribute to the smooth running of the transport office and support the Transport Manager when required.
Requirements:
* Minimum of 2 years' experience within general haulage or a similar transport role.
* Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
* Ability to remain calm and organised under pressure.
* Good IT skills and familiarity with transport planning systems (desirable).
* Knowledge of driver hours and transport compliance (advantageous).
