Who You Are We are seeking a highly experienced Planning Enforcement Officer who will provide short-term support to the Planning Enforcement Team, focusing on progressing and resolving planning enforcement cases. This role is intended for a senior level, experienced planning enforcement practitioner with substantial hands-on experience managing complex enforcement cases. You should be an experienced officer ready to take on a caseload immediately and work independently to deliver outcomes. What the Job Involves This role will be undertaken on a hybrid basis, with an expectation of at least two days per week being office and/or site-based, with occasional additional attendance for urgent priority site visits. Key responsibilities include: Managing a personal caseload of planning enforcement cases, including complex and sensitive matters. Carrying out site inspections, gathering evidence, and exercising professional judgement on expediency and proportionality. Preparing enforcement reports, notices, and appeal documentation. Supporting formal enforcement actions, including appeals, hearings, or inquiries. Providing senior professional advice and support to other Planning Enforcement Officers on complex cases. Maintaining accurate case records using the Council’s case management systems. This is a delivery-focused role and does not include formal line management or service development responsibilities.
