Position: Pupil Support Assistant
Location: Balerno High School - Wellbeing Hub
Salary: £24,909 - £25,116 (pro-rata for part-time and sessional)
Hours: 30 per week, 39 weeks sessional

Balerno High School is recruiting a Pupil Support Assistant (PSA) to assist young people in transitioning from primary school, to develop social and communication skills, and to support positive destinations. The ideal candidate will be positive, a good team player, and committed to working with young people, especially those with additional support needs.
The role involves building trusting relationships with children and their families. The PSA will be part of an enhanced staffing team within the Wellbeing Hub, led by a Curriculum Leader. You will collaborate with the Curriculum Leader and a Pupil Support Officer to support children with social and emotional needs to thrive in their mainstream school environment.
All successful candidates will receive intensive training to prepare them for their role.
This position is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. If the candidate has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more outside the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. Appointment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of these pre-employment checks.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and increases annually until it reaches the top of the range.
