We are pleased to be partnered with our client as they seek to recruit a full-time and permanent Maintenance Assistant to join their team within their site on the outskirts of Haywards Heath. The role is based upon 42.5 hours per week Mon-Fri 0800-1700 with overtime available.
The role is a full-time, permanent position, Monday to Friday, with overtime available, and is located on the outskirts of Haywards Heath. Due to the rural and unique workplace location, it is essential to be a driver and have your own transport. Plenty of free parking is available on site for all staff.
The salary is £29,164 per annum, plus very good all-around company benefits, including free lunches and an excellent pension scheme. This role is subject to DBS clearance.
Purpose of the role:
This is a key position and a very exciting time to be joining this busy, growing education setting. The role demands flexibility and attention to detail, together with energy and enthusiasm, and the willingness to go the extra mile. The Maintenance Assistant role encompasses all aspects of site maintenance and requires a close working relationship with the Head of Maintenance, Head of Facilities, and other members of the Estates team.
Duties:
* Report to and liaise with the Head of Maintenance regarding all issues that relate to the maintenance and administration of the estate.
* Assist with preventative maintenance, review and negotiate with subcontractors, coordinate repairs, and perform compliance tests.
* Order parts, chemicals, and stock in accordance with the budget and purchasing procedures.
* Maintain and ensure compliance with all appropriate health and safety regulations, and undertake regular checks on a systematic basis, including:
o Weekly Legionella flush
o Monthly carbon-monoxide checks
o Monthly window safety checks
o Monthly Blind Cleat safety check
o Monthly Smoke Alarm Battery check
o Monthly Fire Extinguishers and Fire Blanket checks
* Assist the groundsman with gardening duties all year round and maintenance of the grounds, including mowing and marking pitches.
* Perform carpentry, painting & decorating, plumbing, and minor electrical work as required.
* Be the Out of hours duty phone holder on a rota basis, with additional payment for this duty.
* Assist with snow clearing, de-icing, and other hazards that may arise.
* Work with other members of the team in a cooperative and helpful manner.

* Full, clean driving license

* The ability to work independently, yet as part of the team
