We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Window Fitter to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, replacing, and repairing windows in various residential and commercial properties. This role requires a strong understanding of construction practices, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work safely and efficiently on-site. The position offers opportunities for professional development within the building trades.
This role will be a fixed contract of 6 months March – September. Pay based on proven experience.
Duties
* Measure and mark window openings accurately to ensure proper fitment
* Remove old or damaged windows with care, ensuring minimal damage to surrounding structures
* Install new windows using appropriate hand tools and power tools, ensuring secure fitting and sealing
* Adjust window frames for level and plumb alignment, making modifications as necessary
* Seal and insulate around installed windows to improve energy efficiency and weatherproofing
* Collaborate with other tradespeople such as carpenters, masons, or electricians when required
* Maintain a clean and organised work environment, adhering to health and safety regulations at all times
* Read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, or construction plans related to window installation projects
Skills
* Proven experience in construction-related roles, including roofing, plumbing, welding, electrical work, or carpentry is advantageous
* Proficiency with hand tools such as hammers, screwdrivers, chisels, levels, and measuring tapes
* Experience operating power tools including drills, saws, and grinders safely and effectively
* Knowledge of construction practices such as plastering, fabrication, masonry, and painting is beneficial
* Ability to read schematics and technical drawings accurately
* Strong organisational skills with an eye for detail to ensure precise installation
* Good physical fitness with the ability to work at heights and in confined spaces if necessary
* Excellent problem-solving skills with the capacity to adapt to different site conditions
