Grade 4: £39,160 – £46,355 | 18-Month Temporary Contract
Are you ready to take your Health & Safety expertise to the next level? Cornwall Council is offering a unique opportunity to join our dynamic team as an Environmental Health Officer where your work will directly support local businesses and help shape safer, stronger communities.
A Dual-Focus Role with Real Variety
This isn’t your typical desk job. You’ll split your time between:
* Primary Authority Support – Partnering with national brands to provide trusted, tailored Health & Safety advice.
* Business Regulatory Support (BRS) – Working hands-on with Cornwall’s diverse business community, offering guidance, training, and proactive support.
You\'ll play a vital role in ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations - protecting staff, customers, and the wider community while enabling businesses to grow with confidence.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Delivering bespoke Health & Safety advice and training
* Building strong relationships with businesses across Cornwall as well as with regional and national businesses through our Primary Authority partnerships
* Making proactive calls and site visits
* Collaborating with a forward-thinking, supportive team
* Exploring opportunities to contribute to wider team projects
This is a public/customer-facing role, where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies.
This position will be subject to a standard criminal record disclosure check.
Working Pattern
This is a full time position of 37 hours per week. This will be generally Monday to Friday but some out of hours working and occasional weekend working may be required. Flexible working options are available, such as compressed hours.

You’re passionate about Health & Safety and confident advising businesses of all sizes, whether you’re:
* Experienced in a commercial or regulatory setting
* Newly or nearly qualified
* Coming from the private sector
* EH Degree/equivalent qualification or experience
