NHS Lothian Practice Education Facilitator (PEF)
An exciting opportunity to support and quality assure nursing and midwifery pre and post-registration workplace learning within the Lothian Health Board area. This role will require midwifery experience but is not limited to supporting midwives or supporting women’s services. Within this role you will facilitate the development of the workplace as a sustainable quality learning environment for all nursing and midwifery professional staff working across all care settings within the Lothian Health Board area.

Responsibilities
* Support staff to implement the NMC Standards for Student Supervision and Assessment, supporting the development and consolidation as Practice Supervisors and Practice Assessors.
* Support pre-registration nursing and midwifery students, and be involved in supporting Newly Qualified NMC Registered Practitioners in local areas and by delivering the Newly Qualified Registrant programme.
* Contribute to widening access to nursing and midwifery by supporting other learners including HNC students, Open University and Return to Practice students.
* Contribute to collaborative working between NHS Lothian, NHS Education for Scotland and Higher Education and Further Education partners.
* Maximise practice learning capacity while maintaining a quality learning environment.
* Demonstrate evidence of approved Practice Assessor experience.

* Evidence of approved Practice Assessor experience.
* Midwifery experience is essential for this post.
* To work in the United Kingdom, demonstrate the relevant permission to work in the country (UK Visa and Immigration Service requirements).
* PVG Scheme membership/record required. If not currently a member for the relevant regulatory group, an application to Disclosure Scotland is required before starting.
* Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, this post may require a different level of criminal records check; if assessed as a "regulated role", appointment is subject to joining the PVG Scheme. Any changes will be confirmed by the Hiring Manager or Recruitment Team.
