About Camden Camden is changing on the inside to make life better for everyone. Our residents and communities are at the heart of everything we do. We're home to the most important conversations happening today, and we're making radical social change a reality, so that nobody gets left behind. Here's where you can help decide on a better future for us all. Camden Music is a vibrant, inclusive service committed to helping children and young people experience, enjoy, and learn music. We work in partnership with every school in the borough, including primary, secondary, and special schools, to ensure access to high-quality music education for all. Each year, thousands of students take part in our diverse programme, which includes instrumental and vocal tuition, Saturday music academies, and ensembles ranging from steel bands and choirs to rock bands and orchestras. Our flagship event, the Camden Schools' Music Festival at the Royal Albert Hall, brings together over 1,800 young musicians to celebrate creativity and achievement. We support access and equity through affordable instrument hire, subsidies, and bursaries, and we collaborate with schools, educators, and partners, including Camden Music Trust, to deliver innovative projects and professional development. We believe in the power of music to inspire, connect, and transform. You'll be confident working with data, budgets, and digital tools, and you'll understand how great systems can unlock access to creative opportunities for children and young people. You'll be a clear communicator and a collaborative problem-solver, someone who can lead a small team, manage competing priorities, and build strong relationships with schools, tutors, and partners. You'll be comfortable working at both strategic and practical levels, and you'll bring a calm, organised approach to a fast-paced and varied role. You'll be digitally literate, ideally with experience implementing or managing systems like SpeedAdmin, and you'll be confident using data to inform decisions and improve services. A background in education, the arts, or the public sector is welcome, but not essential. What matters most is your ability to lead with integrity, think creatively, and make things happen. A commitment to equity, inclusion, and safeguarding is essential, and you'll be someone who leads by example, ensuring that every child and young person can access high-quality music education, regardless of background. What You'll Be Doing / How You'll Be Involved As Music Service Business Manager, you'll lead the operational and financial backbone of Camden Music. Working closely with the Head of Service, you'll drive improvements in systems, processes, and digital tools, ensuring the service runs smoothly and sustainably. A key part of your role will be embedding and optimising SpeedAdmin, our new all-in-one music service management system. You'll lead on financial planning and reporting, helping to secure the long-term future of the service. You'll manage a small operations team and coordinate over 160 self-employed music tutors, ensuring clear communication and efficient deployment across Camden. You'll also oversee local HR processes, manage correspondence, and ensure that subsidies and remissions are applied fairly. This is a hands-on role that blends strategic thinking with day-to-day delivery. You'll use data to inform decisions, support service-wide planning, and champion a culture of continuous improvement, so that more children and young people can access high-quality music education. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and will require an Enhanced DBS. Please note that Camden also offers the DBS update service.
