Position Summary
An exciting fixed‑term dermatology consultant opportunity has become available in the Dermatology Department at Croydon University Hospital, part of the South West London group. The role is based in the dedicated dermatology department at the main hospital and may include off‑site working as appropriate.
You will be a valued member of the team, overseeing a varied patient mix and supported to develop a special‑interest clinic if desired. Current specialty clinics include Mohs surgery, joint complex surgical clinic, plastics, photodermatology, paediatric dermatology and systemic/biologic clinics led by nurses and pharmacists. The department is active in research, teaching and offers managerial opportunities.
The successful candidate will undertake a mix of general dermatology, urgent skin cancer clinics (USC), minor operative clinics, paediatric dermatology and ward work on a shared rota. Mohs surgeons are welcome to apply as the department has a on‑site Mohs lab. The post is available full‑time or part‑time / job share, with a permanent consultant position considered after the fixed‑term period.
Essential Criteria
Consultant Dermatologist on the GMC Specialist Register for Dermatology and proven good team‑working skills.

* 5 consultants: paediatric dermatology, Mohs surgery, complex surgery, vulval, photodermatology
* 1 plastic surgeon (weekly clinic and lists)
* 2 specialty doctors
* 1 trust‑grade registrar
* 1 prescribing pharmacist (systemic and isotretinoin)
* 1 advanced nurse practitioner
* Nurse‑led clinics: patch test, phototherapy, teledermatology, biopsy lists
* MacMillan skin cancer nurse
* Close working with the maxillofacial team

* Croydon University Hospital
* Purley Hospital (currently a £11 million refurbishment; Urgent Care Service for minor injuries and illnesses)
* Sickle Cell & Thalasaemia Centre – Thornton Heath
* Community bases: Crystal Centre, Purley, Sanderstead, New Addington, Broad Green, Woodside and others throughout Croydon
* A Minor Injuries Unit at New Addington
Additional Information
In addition to clinical duties, the post holder will work within the multi‑disciplinary team to further develop dermatology services, contribute to inpatient, outpatient and emergency work (ward/A&E referrals), and engage in teaching and training of junior staff. Strong links exist with local hospitals in the south‑west London network and teaching opportunities at St George's medical school and for medical student rotations.
