Locum Speciality Doctor - Palliative Medicine

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Locum Speciality Doctor in Palliative Medicine to join the Fife Specialist Palliative Care team for a 6-month fixed-term to cover maternity leave.

You will join a highly motivated and supportive medical team of 5 Consultants, 1 Associate Specialist and 4 other SAS doctors. The medical team are supported by a large multi-disciplinary team and are co-located within the hospice.

The post would initially be based within the Hospice in-patient unit but with opportunity for experience in community and acute hospital settings. Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practise and eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. Portfolio Pathway (formerly known as CESR - Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once it has been awarded. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training to UK requirements. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate that they have the knowledge, skills and experience required for practising as an eligible specialist in the UK.

NHS Fife is legally obliged to ensure all its employees are legally entitled to work in the United Kingdom. If you are not UK or Irish, you are required to confirm your right to work in your application. To work in the United Kingdom, you must demonstrate that you have the relevant permission to work in the country. This permission is granted by the UK Visas and Immigration Service. As part of the pre-employment checks, NHS Scotland Boards will check entitlement to work in the UK. It can be evidenced through several routes including visas as well as EU settled and pre-settled status. For details, refer to GOV.UK. For specific posts, sponsorship via a UK Skilled Worker/Health & Care Worker Visa may be possible if the employer is a licensed Sponsor and the post meets salary requirements.

Responsibilities

* Provide palliative medicine services within the hospice in-patient unit and participate in community and acute hospital settings as requested.
* Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care and ongoing service development.


Qualifications

* Eligibility for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register or near CCT; evidence of higher specialist training for UK-trained applicants.
* Portfolio Pathway (CESR) route considerations apply as noted above.
