Here in Essex, we continue to raise the bar in practice, and our investment in our workforce is second to none. It's an exciting time to join us, having received our 2nd Outstanding Ofsted rating in a row.

The Opportunity

Children and Families is recognized as a service where social work can develop and prosper, with a culture of collaboration, integrity, and compassion. We promote the development and wellbeing of children, young people, and their families, protecting them from neglect and abuse. We work with partners to deliver early help, family support, and effective social work interventions that build resilience, remove barriers, and enable children and young people to look forward to a brighter future.

Family Solutions was established across Essex to work holistically with families with multiple and complex needs, enabling them to make significant changes and improvements in their lives. The Family Worker (Link Role) is a key position within the service, providing advice and support regarding their thematic area and coordinating support from other services.

Accountabilities

* Determine the direction and actions required to progress cases daily, recognizing when key decisions regarding risks/concerns need escalation to the Team Manager or Practice Supervisor.
* Act as a source of advice, guidance, and support to colleagues regarding the thematic role, supporting case discussions, mentoring, and guiding colleagues.
* Undertake holistic assessments of family needs to create intervention plans and identify how outcomes can be achieved, reflecting the family and young person's views and aspirations.
* Facilitate complex family meetings, managing potentially conflicting views of families and professionals to find achievable solutions.
* Undertake individual and group programs to develop families' skills to resolve issues, providing information and empowering families to access local services.
* Provide practical, personal, and emotional support to families in their homes or other settings as part of an agreed plan to achieve sustainable outcomes.
* Participate actively in regular supervision to review work and ensure effective interventions.
* Ensure principles of effective practice are embedded in service delivery, working collaboratively to manage risks in line with policies and procedures.
* Engage in annual appraisals with defined objectives within the performance management framework.

The Experience You Will Bring

* Educated to degree level preferred; minimum NVQ level 4 or equivalent experience in relevant thematic areas such as Domestic Abuse, Substance Misuse, Education, Mental Health, and Parenting. Some roles require a social work qualification and HCPC registration.
* Evidence of ongoing professional development, with good knowledge in relevant areas and commitment to evidence-based practice principles.
* Significant practical experience working with families with complex needs.
* Effective communication, problem-solving, and assessment skills, with a track record of building positive relationships with individuals and families.
* Experience applying a solution-focused approach and providing practical advice to enable positive, sustainable outcomes.
* Ability to work collaboratively with others and independently, using supervision appropriately.
