We are looking for a dedicated childcare practitioner to work 22.5 hours per week, Monday–Friday, 12.30pm-5.00pm. This is a maternity cover role for 7 months, starting 1st February 2026 to 1st September 2026 The role offers a competitive hourly rate of £15-£18 per hour.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support children's play, learning, and development through age-appropriate activities.
* Supervise children during indoor and outdoor play in all weather conditions.
* Provide a safe and nurturing environment for all children.
* Assist in delivering activities based on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
* Observe children and contribute to monitoring their progress.
* Ensure inclusivity by supporting the individual needs of all children.
* Communicate daily with parents/carers about their child's well-being and progress.
* Follow safeguarding procedures and share any concerns with the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
* Prepare and serve healthy snacks and meals, accommodating dietary needs and allergies.
* Keep play areas clean and safe by maintaining toys and equipment.
Essential Qualifications & Skills:
* Paediatric First Aid Certificate (or willingness to train).
* Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply).
* Understanding of child development.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Desirable:
* Professional childcare experience.
* Safeguarding qualification.
* Basic ICT skills (e.g., using apps, cameras, tablets).
