Key Responsibilities
* Make technical publications/authoring decisions within own sphere of responsibility and delegated authority.
* Fulfil the operating, maintenance and support requirements agreed with the customer, presenting information clearly and unambiguously.
* Close liaison with all aspects of engineering through interaction with engineering personnel and interrogation of contributing engineering databases.
* Research and originate new and amended textual data for a wide range of equipment and maintenance activities.
* Compile data to meet national, international, civil and military specifications, and produce physical/electronic deliverables.
* Provide help and direction to less experienced team members.
* Manage own elements of technical publications/authoring work packages.
* Take responsibility for contributing to team planning, risk management, quality and HSE.
* Set targets for and manage own development with line manager and share best practice and knowledge.
* Supervise and coach less experienced members of the team, including apprentices.

Requirements
* Technical authoring experience.
* Strong proficiency within standard Microsoft Office packages and authoring tools.
* Excellent written and spoken English.
* Engineering knowledge/experience and understanding of engineering standards and processes.
* Ability to turn technical information into easily understood text.
* Supervisor experience.
* Experience with engineering product lifecycle.
* Experience with structured writing environments such as XML to S1000D, DITA, and Common Source Data Base.
Desirable
* Basic Logistic Support Analysis (LSA).
* Basic Technical Illustration.
* Support to bids.
* Estimating skills.
* Risk and opportunity management.
* Work package management.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate will need full Security Clearance (SC). In line with Thales' baseline security requirements, candidates will be asked to provide evidence of identity, eligibility to work in the UK and employment history for up to three years.
