Job Description: Heavy Metal Fabricator – Build the Future of Hydroelectric Power
A prominent manufacturing organization is seeking a skilled and dedicated Heavy Metal Fabricator to join its team in York, PA. This journeyman-level role offers the opportunity to fabricate unique components for some of the largest hydroelectric machines in North America. Working with various steel grades and thicknesses, you'll be involved in complex, high-impact projects. If you have a strong aptitude for learning, excellent critical thinking skills, and a sharp analytical mindset, this is your chance to make a difference.
Key Responsibilities
1. Maintain discipline and a positive attitude.
2. Perform Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW/stick) for stainless and carbon steel.
3. Execute Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW/Dual Shield) in 2G and 3G positions for stainless and carbon steel.
4. Obtain additional welding qualifications as required.
5. Conduct arcing, back gouging, and non-destructive evaluation (NDE).
6. Read and interpret fabrication blueprints accurately.
7. Fabricate complex, custom steel components based on detailed specifications.
8. Operate and perform straight crane lifts up to 15 tons safely.
Qualifications
Required:
1. Pennsylvania Journeyman certification.
2. High school diploma or GED.
3. Proficiency in:
o Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW)
o Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW)
o Advanced blueprint reading
Preferred:
* Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW)
* Submerged Arc Welding (SAW)
* Electro Slag Welding (ESW)
* Robotic welding and plasma cutting
* Hand-held plasma cutting
Physical Demands
This role involves physical activities typical of fabrication environments, including:
* Standing, walking, bending, and lifting for extended periods.
* Lifting and moving materials and equipment up to 70 pounds.
* Operating overhead cranes and heavy machinery safely.
* Reading blueprints and measurements accurately.
