Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled Civil Engineer to join our growing infrastructure team. You will be responsible for the design and delivery of civil engineering projects, including highways, drainage, earthworks, and public realm infrastructure, working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
* Design of civil engineering works including highways, drainage, SUDS, earthworks, and external works.
* Production of technical drawings, specifications, and reports.
* Use of industry-standard to produce and check detailed designs.
* Liaison with local authorities, clients, statutory bodies, and design teams.
* Assist with planning submissions, including preparation of Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs) and Drainage Strategies.
* Contribute to the delivery of projects from concept to completion, ensuring technical quality and compliance with regulations.
* Provide support to junior engineers and technicians as required.
* Attend site visits and support construction phase queries and inspections.
* Ensure designs adhere to UK codes, standards, and best practice guidance.
Key Requirements
Essential:
* BEng/MEng in Civil Engineering (or related discipline).
* Working towards Chartership with ICE or similar institution.
* Strong knowledge of drainage and highway design principles.
* Experience using software such as Civil 3D, MicroDrainage, Causeway Flow, PDS, AutoCAD
* Familiarity with Section 278, 38, and 104 agreements.
* Good understanding of UK planning and adoption processes.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable:
* Experience working on sustainable drainage systems (SUDS).
* Knowledge of flood risk assessment and water management strategies.
* Awareness of BIM and collaborative design workflows.
* Construction site experience or understanding of construction methodologies.
