Larc nurse (qualified) part time

We would love to hear from caring, motivated and forward thinking candidates to deliver high quality care for patients undergoing LARC (long acting reversible contraception) in the Community setting. CHL work from multiple locations throughout Lincolnshire and travelling to each of our satellite sites will be essential.

This is a flexible part time role, hours to be negotated, the successful candidate will have a driving licence and use of a car.


Main duties of the job

Clinical

Cliniciansshould hold the appropriate FSRH Letter of Competence in IntrauterineTechniques and/or Subdermal Contraceptive Implants Techniques Insertion andRemoval or have achieved equivalent recognised competencies and show evidenceof recertification/reaccreditation every 5 years.

Is responsible for the assessment, planning and implementation of LARC care and in the interpretation of data relevant to the patients condition and progress

Gives skilled care to patients and provides support to their carers

Working within relevant guidelines includingFSRH Guideline - for Intrauterine Contraception,Contraceptive Choicesfor Young People,FSRH Guideline -Progestogen-only Implant,Service Standards on Obtaining Valid Consent in Sexual and Reproductive Health Services

Safe management of drugs and treatments as prescribed according to the NMC/ HCPC guidelines for the Safe and Secure Handling of Medicines

To be an effective member of the nursing team.

To maintain up-to-date patient records complying with the Service Standards for Record Keeping in Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare Services

Operational Management

To organise time, equipment and staff to deliver nursing care.

Delegate and assign activities and tasks appropriately.

To act as an advocate for the patient/client ensuring the provision of appropriate information and support services.

To identify incidences of concern to either patients or staff and deal effectively with the consequences, completing appropriate documentation

To develop in conjunction with other team members and the manager, new ideas to improve the quality of care and to encourage contribution of other members of the team

To participate fully as a team member, sharing knowledge, information and supporting colleagues to promote a cohesive team

To be aware of unit resource issues and participate in unit stock control

To carry our pre and post clinic set up and administration to include:

Collate patient documents into order and scan them to PC, save the files to Specific folder on CHL computer (Training will be given)

Place all patient documents into brown folder and send to Louth office using internal NHS mail (See reception)

Pack away all CHL disposables and equipment into the CHL Store room.

Ensure all Clinical waste is disposed of correctly.

Ensure the Clinic room is left as it was found.

Run through Disposable stock items and email CHL if there are any items you feel are critically low

Audit / Research

To participate in review/audit of practice

To participate in the benchmarking process for nursing care

To participate in audits related to Nurse activity and disseminate findings

Educational

To demonstrate a positive attitude to the mentoring of learners and junior staff

To participate in educational audit

To ensure that all patients/carers are taught the skills required to maintain their care safely following discharge

To support and contribute to relevant teaching programmes

To fully participate in the promotion of health and education for patients and their families

To contribute to the provision of effective, appropriate and timely information and education To supervise and participate in the teaching of junior staff, students and learners

Professional

To demonstrate a professional approach to work in accordance with the NMC Code/ HCPC Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics at all times.

Clinicians should hold the appropriate FSRH Letter of Competence in Intrauterine Techniques and/or Subdermal Contraceptive Implants Techniques Insertion and Removal or have achieved equivalent recognised competencies and show evidence of recertification/reaccreditation every 5 years.

To have knowledge of and adhere to organisational policy and professional standards

To maintain confidentiality, privacy and dignity surrounding the patient/clients treatment at all times.

Ensure that documentation is complete and up to date, in line with NMC/HCPC and Organisation guidelines

To meet PREP/CPD requirements. To identify own learning needs and ensure own professional development is maintained by keeping up to date with practice developments

Ensure that mandatory and statutory training needs are met

To promote a safe environment for patients and staff by adhering to and complying with all elements of the Health and Safety statutory legislation and risk assess as required

Competence

The post holder is required to participate in the CHLs appraisal process and work towards meeting identified development needs. The post holder is required to demonstrate on-going continuous professional development. At no time should the post holder work outside their defined level of competence. If the post holder has concerns regarding this, they should immediately discuss this with their Manager/Supervisor/Consultant. The post holder has the responsibility to inform those supervising their duties if they are not competent to perform a duty.

Registered Health Professional

All staff who are members of a professional body must comply with standards of professional practice/conduct. It is the post holders responsibility to ensure they are both familiar with and adhere to these requirements.

To have RCN and/or Unison indemnity

The post holder has a responsibility to themselves and others in relation to managing risk, health and safety and will be required to work within the policies and procedures laid down by Community Healthcare. All staff have a responsibility to access occupational health, other staff support services and/or any relevant others in times of need and advice.

Failure to comply with this requirement may constitute gross misconduct under the Community Healthcares Disciplinary Policy which may lead to summary dismissal.

Qualifications

* Must be a registered nurse or ODP.
* Must hold the appropriate FSRH Letter of Competence in Intrauterine Techniques and/or Subdermal Contraceptive Implants Techniques Insertion and Removal or have achieved equivalent recognised competencies and show evidence of recertification/reaccreditation every 5 years.


Experience

* Must have a valid driving licence and use of a car.
* Experience of working in primary care


Knowledge and skills

* Ability to provide quality care
* Good interpersonal and communication skills
* Basic IT skills
