Description Role Title - Activities Assistant Volunteer to support Prism - a group for trans and non-binary young people How often/how long - Fortnightly on a Wednesday from 5-7pm Minimum age - 18 Disclosure Checks - Yes Is driving essential for the role - No Responsibilities What we need you to do: We are looking for dedicated reliable volunteers to assist within our services. The ideal volunteer will be able to support a group for young people who are trans and non-binary, and sometimes their parents, in an informal way. They should have knowledge of the trans and non-binary community and the issues they may face, particularly in relation to their mental health and general wellbeing. Signposting carers of the young people attending the group to appropriate members of staff for support and advice. The ideal volunteer will also be willing to help staff set up and clear away the group, take part in various physical and craft activities and be able to support young people out and about in the community. Knowledge of the local area would be preferred. Qualifications What skills and experience do you need: Be approachable, friendly and have a good sense of humour Understand the needs of young people from the trans and non-binary community Be able to listen without judgement Be Reliable Be confident and patient with young people What we can offer: An excellent opportunity to build skills and volunteer within our charity.
