Senior / Principal Medical Writer
Location: UK based - Flexible
Salary: £48,000 to £65,000 DOE
About the Role
I am currently partnering with a leading medical communications agency, during an exciting period of growth. As such, they are looking for a Senior or Principal Medical Writer. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident and collaborative writer who enjoys producing high-quality, scientifically accurate content and contributing to strategic communications for global healthcare clients.
You’ll work across a variety of therapy areas and project types - from congress materials to medical education, training, and digital initiatives. The role offers scope for autonomy, client interaction, and mentoring junior colleagues, while remaining hands-on with scientific content.
Key Responsibilities
* Research, write, and edit a broad range of scientific and medical communication materials (e.g., manuscripts, abstracts, slide decks, symposia content, digital copy, and training materials)
* Interpret and communicate complex scientific data clearly and accurately for different audiences
* Collaborate closely with client services, scientific, and creative teams to ensure scientific excellence and alignment with project objectives
* Contribute to client discussions and strategic planning around scientific and communication goals
* Maintain quality, accuracy, and compliance with industry and client standards (GPP, ICMJE, etc.)
* Mentor and review work from junior writers, helping to build internal capability and uphold quality standards
* Manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced agency environment
Skills & Experience
* Degree in life sciences
* Proven experience in medical communications or related scientific writing roles
* Strong understanding of scientific data and ability to translate it into engaging and accurate communication materials
* Excellent writing, editing, and attention to detail
* Comfortable working independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams
* Confident communicator with clients and internal stakeholders
* Familiarity with industry guidelines and publication standards
