Job Summary
Hold and have overall responsibility for the Council's Operators Licence, ensuring adherence to licensing requirements and legislation. Serve as the responsible person for applications, undertakings, and declarations related to the fleet under the Goods Vehicle (Licensing Operations) Act 1995 or subsequent legislation.
Manage the Fleet Management function, representing the Council with regulating authorities, and maintain quality standards. Prepare and oversee the fleet department budget, including forecasting and expenditure monitoring. Develop and manage fleet and plant replacement programs, procurement, and tender evaluations.
Provide technical expertise on policy issues, whole life costs, resource analysis, and new technologies. Devise strategies for optimal fleet/plant requirements and usage. Collaborate with the Health and Safety Officer to implement safety regimes ensuring safe working environments for staff and the public.
