Product Quality Engineer
Location: On-site at Ulverston, Cumbria.
Hours: 37 hours per week worked Monday-Friday. Hours negotiable from a minimum of 30 hours will be considered.

Forge is looking for a practical Product Quality Engineer who can manage its robust and established product quality case management system operations on a day-to-day basis, drive continuous improvement, liaise with customers and suppliers, and contribute proactively to Product Quality from design through partner manufacture and beyond. Key Responsibilities
•
Manage the product quality of optoelectronic LED products, LED assemblies & LED components as well as related goods
•
Administer and operate the company's quality case management system, ensuring accurate record keeping and clear communication to internal and external stakeholders
•
Manage incoming and outgoing goods inspections, supported by a Quality and Test Technician
•
Act as the primary customer liaison/contact for quality-related matters
•
Supplier quality monitoring, analysis, evaluation & development
•
Lead failure analysis investigations, establish route cause and implement corrective actions
•
Some auditing of suppliers and customers.
Qualifications
•
A degree or HND in a relevant Science or Engineering discipline or equivalent
•
IPC610 practitioner qualification desirable but not essential
Skills/Experience:
•
A strong engineering background with least 2 years' experience of working in industry required
•
Experience of working with mechanical and electrical products with good knowledge of 3D CAD
•
Experience of electronic & optical metrology is an advantage though in-house training is available
•
Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management System preferred
•
Knowledge, understanding, and practical experience of statistical quality control techniques & methods
•
Good communication skills, able to deal effectively with customers and suppliers
•
A problem solver, who is self-motivated with a 'can-do' attitude and a good eye for detail
•
Good organisational skills, able to work to tight deadlines.
