An exciting opportunity has arisen within the People Directorate for a People Systems and Planning Lead. This Band 7 role offers strategic support and expert guidance across ESR, Payroll (via external provider), Workforce Planning, and HR systems. You will lead on data quality, system optimisation, and planning processes that shape the future of our workforce. We are looking for someone passionate about improving systems and ensuring compliance with frameworks and regulations. Youll work flexibly across Herefordshire and Worcestershire, with remote working options available. The primary work base will be Kings Court 2, with home working. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week. However, we would consider less hours for the successful candidate but would have to be a minimum of 30 hours. The role will provide you with variety and no two days are the same. You will have autonomy to balance and achieve the demands of the role so will need demonstrate your ability to be responsive and flexible to be able meet the requirements of the role. Main duties of the job
Responsibilities
* oversee ESR, payroll liaison, and workforce planning, ensuring systems run efficiently and data quality is maintained.
* lead on compliance, support strategic planning, and contribute to transformation projects across the Trust.
A typical day involves analysing workforce data, resolving system issues, liaising with internal teams and external partners, and supporting service improvement. You will manage KPIs, contracts, and system upgrades, while providing expert guidance to colleagues. This hands-on role suits someone proactive, collaborative, and passionate about improving processes working closely with senior leaders having opportunities to shape long-term workforce strategy.

Person Specification
Experience (Essential)
* Significant proven experience in workforce systems including ESR or similar.
* Experience of data manipulation and exception reporting.
* Experience of workforce planning methodologies.
* Experience of setting and monitoring key performance indicators and HR metrics.
* Experience of managing a workforce information or similar service.
* Experience of payroll and dealing with an external payroll provider to resolve issues.
Skills & Abilities (Essential)
* Ability to manage the communication of complex information in both verbal and written format
Knowledge (Essential)
* Extensive knowledge of NHS People systems including ESR.
* Experience of workforce planning tools.
* Experience of data analysis and resolving issues through investigation
Qualifications (Essential)
* Degree level qualification or equivalent experience working in People Systems & Services.
* Evidence of continued professional development.
