Please note that this is a fixed term contract for 3 years Working hours: Minimum 35 hours per week including evenings and weekends Interview date: 28th May 2024 Situated within a housing estate close to the town centre, our corps (Church) in Tiverton has a thriving youth group. We are looking for an experienced Christian youth worker to transform the group, improve their school life by giving support within the local schools, and lead in extending the youth outreach provision for the wider community of Tiverton. Acting as a bridge between the local community, schools, and the corps, this role will give a candidate opportunity to combine both creativity and experience in developing new and existing expressions of youth ministry, as well as developing opportunities to broaden the work with young people, school staff and families. You will work on creating a welcoming environment, providing faith direction, and encouraging discussion for young people, as well as signposting members of the community to engage with other groups and initiatives run by the corps. The candidate will be working within local schools as a mentor using the Salvation Army Starfish programme. This role has an occupational requirement that you must be a committed and practising Christian. As well as being an excellent communicator with strong interpersonal and organisational skills, you will have: A recognised qualification in youth work and/or good experience of working with young people in outreach, discipleship, and leadership. Practical experience of developing community youth outreach projects and schools based mentoring programmes. Relevant technical skills, including project management, finance, stakeholder engagement, social media. The ability to work flexibly including evenings, weekends, overnight and residential weeks when necessary.
