Job Title: Lead Network Supervisor

Location: Cranbrook and Exeter (Additional sites in the area)

Start Date: ASAP

Contract: 12 months

Pay: £45k - £53K (Via Umbrella)

Hours: Monday to Friday

Overview of the role - Team / Projects / Key challenges

The Lead Network Supervisor is responsible for the coordination, oversight, and compliance of all network's operational activities across the heat network portfolio. The role ensures safe, efficient, and compliant delivery of planned and reactive works, including carrying out leak detection activities and undertaking remedial works where required. The postholder plays a key role in managing and tracking operational performance, ensuring trends, outputs, and KPIs are monitored and continuously improved. They support all heat network teams-including London, the North, and regional operations-to ensure consistent standards, rapid response, and high-quality service delivery. The role also maintains digital network visibility, supports stakeholder engagement, and drives continuous improvement in network reliability.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership & Coordination

Coordinate day-to-day operational and maintenance activities across the heat network.
Engage with Customer Services, internal teams, London and Northern heat network teams, councils, utility providers, and other stakeholders.
Ensure operational activities are prioritised, scheduled, and delivered efficiently.Work Management & Reporting

Track all planned and reactive works across the network.Record defects, closure notes, and operational outputs

Maintain accurate documentation for governance, audits, and reporting.
Support costing and preparation of operational work packages.
Performance Management
Manage and track network and operational performance, including output levels, productivity, and compliance indicators.
Identify performance gaps and support corrective actions.
Produce regular updates and performance insights for management.
Support KPI development and dashboard reporting.Leak Detection & Remedial Activities

Conduct leak detection surveys and investigations across the network.
Undertake remedial works or coordinate specialist contractors where required.
Document findings and repair activity to inform performance reviews.Compliance, Safety, and Quality Assurance

Ensure works comply with all safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
Undertake or oversee environmental checks, PAT testing, HAVs monitoring, Safe Start procedures, and plant/tooling inspections.
Ensure all operatives have correct training, certification, and equipment.Streetworks & Permitting

Apply strong NRSWA knowledge to manage all streetworks.
Prepare, submit, and manage highway permit applications with Local Authorities.
Ensure compliance with permit conditions and statutory obligations.Network Performance Oversight

Monitor Energy Centre and network performance data.
Identify performance trends and opportunities for optimisation.
Support efficiency and reliability improvement initiatives.Digital Network Visibility

Maintain accurate digital mapping and representation of the heat network.
Support digital asset updates, GIS systems, and operational tools

Experience and Qualifications - Essential / Desirable

Essential:

Current NRSWA accreditation (Supervisor level).
Experience in supervisory or coordination roles within utilities, energy networks, or similar fields.Experience in tracking and managing operational performance

Experience in leak detection and remedial repair activities.
Strong understanding of street works compliance and permitting.
Ability to interpret technical information and operational data.Desirable:

Abrasive Wheels certification.
Manual Handling training.
First Aid at Work qualification.
IOSH/NEBOSH or equivalent safety qualification.
Experience in heat networks or district energy systems.
Familiarity with GIS systems and digital asset management tools.Key Skills & Behaviours
