This is a Percentage Time Position (60%), working 24 hours per week and earning some pro-rated benefits such as Paid Time Off, Extended Medical Leave, and Holidays.

JOB OVERVIEW: The purpose of this position is to perform lead investigative activities related to criminal prosecution and coordinate with Federal and Local Law enforcement agencies. The work is performed under the supervision of the Chief Investigator, as assigned by the Prosecuting Attorney or Assistant Prosecuting Attorney.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Conducts legal and technical review of police reports.
* Acts as lead investigator in major case investigations, which may include (but are not limited to): homicide, public corruption, crimes against children, and any other priority cases designated by the Prosecuting Attorney. Assists with trial preparation.
* Serves as investigative advisor to law enforcement officers.
* Locates victims, witnesses and defendants through interviews and records searches. Interviews witnesses.
* Serves subpoenas and executes search warrants.
* Testifies in court, grand juries, at depositions and participates as an active member of the prosecution team.
* Participates in on-going training.
* Maintains knowledge of investigation methods and interview techniques.
* Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

* Education / Experience
o Bachelor’s degree in Police Science, Criminal Justice or related field and three to four years law enforcement investigation experience or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities.
o Police academy graduation required.
* Certifications
o POST certification
o A valid motor vehicle operator’s license required.
o FLETC preferred.
