JOB TITLE: Media Relations Manager
LOCATION(S): Bristol, additional locations of London, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Halifax, Leeds
HOURS: Full Time
WORKING PATTERN: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites
We are looking for an enthusiastic communicator for 6-month contract to join our Group Media Relations Team, focussed on supporting our Consumer and Insurance, Pensions, and Investments businesses.
In this role, you’ll lead dynamic media campaigns, handle media queries, and drive targeted engagement around everyday banking, investments, and fraud.
You'll be at the frontline in supporting and enhancing the Group's reputation—crafting narratives, turning challenges into opportunities, and steering bold, campaigns that really make an impact.

Job Description
Day to day responsibilities
* Campaign Leadership: Develop and implement innovative media campaigns that drive impactful coverage and elevate our brand.
* Reactive Media Management: Handle live media queries with clarity and speed, ensuring timely responses.
* Collaborator Involvement: Work alongside multiple PR agencies, Group Corporate Affairs colleagues, and various business units to deliver coordinated messaging.
* Strategic Media Relations: Cultivate strong relationships with national, broadcast, and regional media while providing advice and insight.
* Risk Mitigation: Identify emerging issues and handle them proactively to safeguard our reputation.
What you’ll need
* Media relations experience preferred; open to all with relevant skills and experience.
* Creative Thinking: A knack for developing innovative ideas and campaigns that generate significant media coverage.
* Outstanding Communication: Outstanding ability to simplify issues for audiences and engage effectively with media collaborators.
* Collaborative Spirit: Experience growing in fast-paced environments and working well with both internal teams and external partners.
And any experience of these would be really useful
* Established network of contacts with journalists
* Understanding of macroeconomic trends and their impact on public perception
* Writing skills for press releases, crafting compelling narratives and key messages
