A vacancy has arisen for a Wg Cdr (Regt) to serve as SO1 Engagement at RAF Honington on Full Time Reserve Service (Limited Commitment) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS), with an initial proposed start date of 23 February 2026.
The incumbent will be at the core of RAF Regt engagement and communications. The post's reach will be broad and influential, and the successful applicant will have well-developed communications skills and an understanding of digital media channels and engagement strategies. They will use this to engage effectively with potential recruits, gunners, senior officers, the wider Regimental family, leaders from Government and industry, civic dignitaries, and the Royal Household. The ability to build on an existing knowledge of RAF Regt operations, force elements, and history is essential. Working in a small team with access to a wide Regimental network they will be responsible for the timely production of content aimed at specific target audiences.
They will be responsible for:
* Championing our people, both serving and veterans, regular and reserve; identifying opportunities and ways to celebrate, appreciate, honour, and commemorate the RAF Regt and the Regimental family.
* Liaison with the Royal Household to coordinate visits and correspondence pertaining to His Majesty the King's role as the RAF Regt's Air Commodore in Chief.
* Fostering the RAF Regt network and coordinating communications to regular and reserve personnel, veterans and veteran organisations, Regimental affiliations, and Service charities.
* Identifying, cultivating, and sustaining key external allies and advocates, to further the standing of the RAF Regt.
* Shaping the Commandant General's engagement opportunities to maximal effect.
* Supporting and where required coordinating the organisation of Regimental events.
* Maintaining the RAF Regt engagement directive and communications plan.
* Synchronisation of RAF Regt engagement and communications with RAF Global Enablement, Air Media and Comms, and the Directorate of Defence Communications.
* Coordination and support to the RAF Regt Profession Advisor Team to produce content for Attract, Recruit, and Retain lines of effort.
