The successful candidate will have extensive experience in highway and drainage design, as well as the ability to manage complex and challenging civil engineering projects from concept to completion.
They will demonstrate a proven track record in the technical and financial delivery of projects, strong line management experience, and a collaborative approach to working with directors to support business development and work winning.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality concept, preliminary, and detailed design for highway and drainage projects.
Perform drainage calculations, including QBar, attenuation storage, soakaway sizing, foul load assessments, and network analysis.
Prepare adoptable and non-adoptable designs for highways, car parks, driveways, and footpaths (both permeable and non-permeable).
Oversee applications and technical submissions including:
Developer Enquiries and LLFA/EA requests
Section 104, 106, 185 (Drainage Authority)
Section 184, 278, 38 (Highway Authority)
Produce technical reports such as Transport Statements, Travel Plans, Flood Risk Assessments, and Drainage Strategies.
Manage project budgets, timelines, and sustainability targets.
Provide leadership and mentoring to senior and junior engineers, including quality assurance reviews.
Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations and design duties.
Support marketing, client relationship management, and business development initiatives.
About You
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
Minimum 2:1 BSc/BEng in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
Chartered status (MICE or equivalent).
At least 10 years post-qualification experience in civil engineering.
Full UK driving licence and own transport.
Strong working knowledge of drainage and highway design software.
