Equans is looking for a Mobile Fabric Engineer to join our team in Birmingham. This is a permanent, full-time role of 37.5 hours per week with a rotating schedule: Week 1 Monday‑Friday 6 am‑2 pm and Week 2 Monday‑Friday 10 am‑6 pm, plus an on‑call rota. The role supports the delivery of a high‑quality, compliant fabric maintenance service across a portfolio of PFI school buildings, including primary and secondary schools with teaching, sporting and community facilities.
What will you deliver?
* Carry out planned and reactive fabric maintenance across all building areas, including joinery, basic plumbing, painting, plastering, tiling, flooring, roofing, fence fitting, ground repair, door repair and general building repairs.
* Complete minor repairs and remedial works to doors, windows, locks, ironmongery, ceilings, walls, fixtures and fittings.
* Deliver Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks to required specifications and within set timeframes.
* Respond promptly to reactive tasks to reduce disruption and meet contractual KPIs and SLAs.
* Identify building fabric defects, recommend remedial actions and provide accurate material lists and timescales.
* Ensure building fabric assets are kept safe, secure and in good condition across all sites.
* Participate in the on‑call rota.

Who are we looking for?
* Strong knowledge of building fabric systems.
* Recognised apprenticeship (City & Guilds or equivalent).
* Valid driving licence.
* Experience in schools, PFI or public‑sector environments (desirable).
* Knowledge of associated M&E systems (desirable).
This role includes a DBS Enhanced with Barred Lists, therefore the ability to pass is essential.
