Key Duties and Responsibilities
IT Operations Manager: The responsibilities for the role include, but are not limited to:
* Strategic Planning: Define, develop and execute the overall IT strategy that aligns with the business objectives, including:
o Developing long-term technology roadmaps
o Identifying opportunities for digital improvement
o Aligning IT initiatives with organisational priorities
o Supporting future business growth through technology
* Infrastructure & System Management: Oversee the maintenance and enhancement of IT infrastructure, ensuring:
o High availability of business-critical systems
o Reliability and performance of platforms
o Scalability to support business growth
o Continuous improvement of core systems
* Team Leadership: Lead, mentor and manage the IT team, fostering:
o A collaborative working environment
o Professional development opportunities
o Clear accountability across the team
o A culture of continuous improvement
* Budget Management: Oversee the IT budget, ensuring:
o Cost-effective technology investment
o Control of operational expenditure
o Optimisation of software and service spend
o Service quality is maintained within budget
* Project Management: Manage IT projects from inception to completion, ensuring:
o Clear project scope and ownership
o Timely delivery of milestones
o Adherence to agreed budgets
o Alignment with business requirements
* Security & Compliance: Ensure the security of IT systems and compliance with relevant standards, e.g:
o GDPR, HIPAA, ISO27001, PCI-DSS
o Internal governance policies
* Commercial and Supplier Management: Manage relationships with external Technology vendors, service providers and telecoms suppliers, including:
o Vendor performance monitoring
o Support escalation management
o Contract and service review meetings
o Supplier onboarding and due diligence
o Identification and recommendation of new vendors and technology partners
o Ensuring third-party services deliver value, compliance and service quality
* Software Asset & License Management: Oversee software licensing across the organisation, ensuring:
o Accurate license allocation and reconciliation
o Compliance with vendor licensing agreements
o Optimisation of software spend
o Proactive renewal management
o Reduction of unused or duplicated subscriptions
* Third-Party Support Coordination: Monitor and coordinate third-party support tickets and service requests, including:
o Triage and prioritisation
o Escalation management
o Routing issues to appropriate internal stakeholders
o Ensuring timely resolution of vendor-managed incidents
o Maintaining accountability across support partners
* End User Device & Telecom Management: Oversee the procurement and lifecycle management of both laptop & mobile devices, including:
o Mobile phone purchasing
o SIM provisioning
o Device allocation
o Carrier/vendor management
o Cost control and usage optimisation
* Business Relationship Management: Act as the primary IT liaison across business departments to:
o Support cross-functional initiatives
o Coordinate technology-related actions outside direct IT ownership
o Improve communication between IT and business teams
o Ensure technology decisions align with departmental needs
o Drive accountability for interdepartmental technology actions
* Technology Innovation: Stay updated with emerging technology trends and implement innovative solutions to improve business processes, including:
o Evaluating new technologies that support organisational goals
o Recommending improvements to existing systems
o Promoting continuous improvement across the IT function
* Risk Management: Identify and mitigate IT-related risks to protect business operations and ensure continuity, including:
o Assessing operational and security risks
o Maintaining disaster recovery and business continuity plans
o Reducing vulnerabilities across systems and services
o Monitoring supplier-related service risks
