Role: Team Leader – Teaching Assistants
Location: Central Bedfordshire College – Dunstable Kingsway Campus
Salary/Benefits: Salary is between £28,325 and £33,231 per annum (Pro-Rata) DOE and Qualifications, People’s pension, Retail and Leisure Discounts, excellent professional and personal development opportunities, accessing college courses.
Hours/Weeks: 37 hours per week – 40 weeks per year

About the role:
We are currently seeking a Teaching Assistant Team Leader to join our Additional Support department at The Bedford College Group.
As a Team Leader, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
1. Team Leadership & Management – Line manages Teaching Assistants across college, conducting appraisals, probation reviews, mentoring, interviews, and regular 1:1s to support performance and development.
2. Strategic Deployment & Support – Coordinates TA deployment to meet student needs through effective timetabling, matching, and utilisation within funding limits, ensuring quality support and promoting student independence.
3. Operational Oversight – Manages classroom and lunch cover, tracks support hours, facilitates EHCP review attendance, and steps in during extreme absence to maintain continuity of support.
4. Collaboration & Communication – Works closely with curriculum, pastoral, and behavioural leads to share information, develop training programmes, and align TA roles with classroom expectations.
5. Compliance & Development – Upholds safeguarding, EDI, and health & safety standards; engages in ongoing training and development; and contributes to college-wide activities and meetings.
About you:
6. Qualifications & Experience – Holds Level 2 English and Maths, a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management, with recent experience supporting individuals in education and managing large teams across multiple sites.
7. Specialist Knowledge & Skills – Experienced in working with students with diverse learning needs and abilities across vocational contexts, with strong administrative skills and budget prioritisation capabilities
8. Professional Competencies – Demonstrates excellent communication, teamwork, record-keeping, and organisational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines, work independently, and maintain high job performance.
9. Values & Attitudes – Committed to equality, safeguarding, and promoting the college’s reputation, with a sensitive and respectful approach to individual needs and professional relationships.
10. Flexibility & Development – Willing to work across sites, adapt to changing work patterns, travel as needed, and engage in ongoing professional development to support student welfare and success.
