Business Support Assistant Location: Mansfield (NG18) – hybrid role (required in office 1 day per week) Hours: 37 hours per week - Monday - Friday Pay Rate: £13.90 per hour Contract: Temporary position (may be extended for the right candidate) Service Area: Education, Health and Care (EHC) Team Purpose of the Role The EHCP Assistant Practitioner provides comprehensive administrative and casework support within the Education, Health and Care (EHC) Team, ensuring all statutory processes are followed efficiently and within required timescales. This role plays a key part in supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) by coordinating the assessment and planning process, maintaining accurate records, and liaising effectively with families, schools, and professionals. Key Responsibilities * Act as the first point of contact for all enquiries regarding the statutory EHC needs assessment process, providing accurate and impartial information. * Support families and professionals by explaining EHC process timelines, expectations, and statutory requirements. * Draft, review, and amend EHC Plans based on information provided by professionals and service users, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and legal compliance. * Ensure all EHC needs assessments are completed within statutory timescales and adhere to legislative and local authority requirements. * Gather, process, and update case information in relevant databases and case management systems. * Monitor and track the progress of cases, escalating any delays or issues to senior colleagues where appropriate. * Work collaboratively with colleagues and partner agencies to support efficient service delivery and positive outcomes for children and young people. Key Accountabilities 1. Deliver high-quality administrative and casework support to meet statutory EHC requirements. 2. Ensure the timely and accurate completion of EHC needs assessments and plans. 3. Maintain clear, accurate, and organised case records in compliance with council policies and data protection legislation. 4. Contribute to continuous improvement and best practice within the EHC team. Personal Skills and Competencies * Strong written and verbal communication skills. * Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, including empathy and active listening. * High level of accuracy and attention to detail. * Ability to manage workload effectively and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. * Problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively. * Confident IT user with experience of Microsoft Office and case management systems
